In October 2020, the Premiers Economic Recovery Team (PERT) was tasked with reviewing government expenditures, the province’s fiscal capacity, how services are delivered, and exploring possible growth sectors. As part of PERT’s consultation process, NLCSW was pleased to provide both an online submission and virtual presentation. Grounded in our Social Determinants of Health Policy Framework, NLCSW’s recommendations focused on:
• incorporating social workers in the K-12 education system,
• health care service delivery,
• seniors, and
• the social safety net.
PERT’s report titled The Big Reset was released in May 2021. Many of the recommendations presented by NLCSW are addressed in the report.
